Background:
Technology
is the future. Studies show information technology (IT) is already outstripping
other industries in economic growth. To ensure we all have a stake in this
global phenomenon, Career Communications Group found it of paramount importance
to promote IT opportunities that will help communities take a leading role in
teaching our children about technology.
To
address the gap in Internet usage and computer ownership between U.S. mainstream
and families in underserved communities, Career Communications Group (CCG)
created three IT awareness programs: Black Family Technology Awareness
Week, La Familia Technology Week, and Native American Technology Journey. In
addition, CCG founded The Foundation for Educational Development, which
provides grants to organizations looking to promote technology awareness. Since
their founding, all three technology awareness programs have gone beyond the
borders of the United States
into Brazil, South Africa and Canada.
